Something that didn't make it into this morning's sermon on Luke 5:27-32:
Levi's parents must have named him with high hopes. The Levite’s in the Old Testament were the priests. A Levite was meant to be God’s go-between. Levi is meant to be the human face of a loving LORD. He’s meant to bring people under God’s influence.
But now look at him. He's Rome's go-between. The Jewish face of a tyrannical empire, bringing people under Rome’s influence. He’s kind of an anti-levite Levi.
But when Jesus calls him he is freed into being his true self.
In his joy he throws a banquet, invites his co-workers and friends and secures a great speaker - Jesus. He turns into a brilliant go-between, drawing people under Jesus' influence.
Levi becomes levitical.
Glen,
I love your posts and anxiously look forward to your next missive. You have taught me so much.
Thank you for sharing the word of God in a Christ centered method. You have no idea who you are touching and your effect on them. God lead me to your site as I needed guidance being new to salvation. May God bless you, your family, and your ministry. Please advise me as to how I can support your ministry. God has but a burden on my heart to help everyone that is walking in the word and are truly preaching the word, instead of the money hungry that promise great wealth. The true great wealth is the wealth you store up in heaven, not the gold, silver, and money accumulated in this short life on earth.
Your brother in Christ.

Hi Phil,
Thanks so much for the encouragement. Good to know my words aren't just flying off into the ether.
And it's always exciting to hear about those new to salvation. Jesus is everything!!
Perhaps in future I will combine my blog and website and try to make it a bit more user-friendly. At that stage I might ask people for help, but it's all free and easy at the moment.
God bless
Glen
